One female remains in serious condition following a fire in Gananoque that happened on Saturday, Nov. 18.

That was the first of two fires the Gananoque Fire Department responded to over the weekend.

A news release from the Town of Gananoque states that on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 8:39 a.m., firefighters arrived at a structure fire where smoke was spotted coming from the second story. They quickly took action, bringing the fire under control. Unfortunately, a female occupant sustained injuries and is in serious condition receiving medical attention.

The next day, on Nov. 19, at 10:25 a.m., the department responded to another call. They found a residence with a smoke alarm sounding and visible smoke. Firefighters contained the fire to one room, limiting the damage.

No firefighters were injured in either incident. The Gananoque Fire Department thanked Leeds and Grenville EMS, Gananoque Police, Gananoque Public Works, and TLTI Fire for their assistance during both incidents.
