The Brockville Police Service responded to a call on Monday, Dec. 5, around 6:30 p.m. reporting an unresponsive woman in a vehicle on Downey Street.

Upon arrival, officers found a 44-year-old woman alone in the vehicle, showing clear signs of impairment. She was arrested and taken to the police station for further evaluation. Investigations revealed an outstanding warrant for her arrest tied to a theft at Shoppers Drug Mart back in August.

There were no indications of alcohol impairment, leading authorities to suspect drug impairment. Police say that a drug recognition expert conducted tests confirming her impaired state. Consequently, her license was suspended, and her vehicle impounded.

Charges for operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs were filed against her.

Following her release with specific conditions, she’s set to appear in court at a later date.
