The Town of Gananoque has a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

In a Feb. 14 media release, the town announced that Melanie Kirkby has been selected for the role after interviews were held with candidates in January 2024.

Kirkby has held the office of treasurer with Gananoque for the last nine years.

“Her pursuit of excellence in her role and leadership skills have produced exemplary results for the town,” stated Mayor John Beddows. “The position of CAO is not only extremely demanding but also vital to how our town functions. It was essential that the town council selected the right candidate to fill the most senior administrative position in the municipality.”

Kirkby said she is “thrilled” to take on this new role.

“I am honoured to be the new leader of the many dedicated, hardworking, and talented people who together are ‘Team Gananoque,” said Kirkby. “My goal is to ensure that we continue to deliver on council priorities and that Gananoque remains a wonderful place to work, live, and play.”

Kirkby said that during this transition, continuity of service delivery to the residents and business owners of Gananoque is a priority for town council.
