Brockville police lay numerous charges after woman allegedly assaulted, choked, confined

Brockville police responded to a domestic assault call at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, in the vicinity of Reynold’s Drive.

In a media release, police say that upon arrival, officers discovered that a female had been assaulted, pushed down, and confined against her will within the residence. The alleged perpetrator, identified as a 38-year-old male, had fled the scene before police arrival.

Following an initial investigation, it was determined that the victim had sustained injuries consistent with assault and choking, although non-life-threatening.

Officers then launched a search for the suspect, ultimately locating and apprehending him shortly afterward.

The suspect was taken into custody and is facing multiple charges, including two counts of assault, unauthorized possession of a weapon (knife), unlawfully being in a dwelling, overcoming resistance by choking, forcible confinement, and failure to comply with probation terms.

Police did not name the suspect.

Charges have not been proven inc court.

He is currently being held pending a bail hearing.
