Brockville police charge man accused of striking partner in the face

The Brockville Police Service received a high volume of calls during the first three days of this week, one of which resulted in a man being charged in a domestic altercation.

Between March 18 and March 20, 2024, Brockville police reported receiving a total of 117 calls for service. As a result of these incidents, authorities laid nine Criminal Code charges and nine traffic-related charges. Additionally, officers made five arrests and one mental health apprehension during this period.

One notable incident occurred on March 18, 2024, around 10:30 p.m. Officers responded to a residence on King Street West to a call pertaining to an intimate partner dispute. Upon investigation, it was found that a 21-year-old male and his female partner were engaged in an argument. During the altercation, the female attempted to seize the male’s phone, resulting in him striking her in the face. The injuries sustained were deemed non-life-threatening, police say.

The male was taken into custody and charged with assault. He is currently held pending a bail hearing.
