Patient charged after allegedly assaulting staff member at Brockville General Hospital

A patient of Brockville General Hospital was recently charged with assaulting a staff member.

In a Tuesday, March 26 media release, police report that on March 10, at about 6:30 p.m., police learned that a female staff member at the Brockville General Hospital was allegedly assaulted by a 20-year-old female patient.

Police say that the patient pulled the staff member’s hair and struck her head repeatedly against a handrail. Other staff were able to assist and stop the assault, and the staff member received non-life-threatening injuries.

The patient had to remain in hospital at that time for other reasons, police report. Once she was released by the hospital, on March 20 at about 4:30 p.m., police arrested the 20-year-old, female and charged her with assault. This charge has not been proven in court. The woman was released with conditions and a future court date.
