The Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands (TLTI) has announced a groundbreaking ceremony for a new state-of-the-art fire station on Friday.

The ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. at the construction site located at 3300 County Road 32, Seeley’s Bay. The event will feature remarks from Mayor Corinna Smith-Gatcke and Fire Chief Mike Prior, followed by the ceremonial turning of the soil to signify the start of construction.

Members of the public have been invited.

The new fire station will address the growing needs of the community by providing modern facilities, cutting-edge equipment, and improved infrastructure to support firefighters, township officials said.

With expanded resources and enhanced capabilities, the fire department will be better equipped to respond to emergencies promptly and effectively, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents, they added.

Key features of the new fire station include six bays, a training room, capacity for 32 firefighters, on-site water storage, utilizing water runoff from the roof, and a strategic location for faster response.
