The station is expected to be completed this year, and begin operations by late December or early January 2025.

“This new fire station will serve to protect the residents of Rideau Lakes, and we are pleased to be on track with its construction this year,” Mayor Hoogenboom said in a media release.

Fire Station #2 will be located near the intersection of Highway 15 and Otter Lake Road on land recently purchased by the municipality. It will feature four equipment bays with one drive- through apparatus bay, a negative pressure room for decontamination of equipment, a bunker wash room, office space, a small kitchen area, universal washrooms and a training room.

The new building will be capable of servicing a firefighting staff of 24, once operational.
