A few briefs to keep you in-the-know:

Arthur Street Reconstruction Project gets starting date

The Town of Gananoque has announced that the Arthur Street Reconstruction Project will be starting on May 6.

The reconstruction project (Stone Street South to Charles Street South), is expected to run through the end of October.

Construction will involve the replacement of sanitary storm sewers and watermain, surface restoration including concrete curbs, sidewalk and asphalt road.

The contractor for this project is Len Corcoran Excavating Ltd.

The streets, staff say, will be open to local traffic only.

Public Meetings announced for Gananoque

Gananoque council is gearing up for a couple of public meetings to occur in early May.

One is for a proposed official plan amendment and Class III development permit for King Street East, for an urban hydroponic and retail farm.

The other is for a proposed Class III development permit for Elizabeth Drive, to allow one short-term accommodation rental with three bedrooms.

The third is a proposed Class III development permit for 154 King Street East, to renovate a second-storey commercial building to accommodate four residential apartments and relief for parking off-site.

The matters will be heard separately on May 7.

Lighting it blue

In response to a request from the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Canada, the Town of Gananoque has announced that Town Hall will be lit in blue during the month of September to show its support of prostate cancer awareness.
