Residents in Kemptville or those travelling through Kemptville should expect ongoing lane closures on County Road 43 starting next Tuesday, May 21. Details of the County Road 43 Widening Project were published online at https://countyroad43expansion.com/, which provides information on the single lane closure of the Eastbound Lane between Creekside Plaza and Kemptville Retirement Living.

The work is scheduled to take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 21 – 24, and again between May 27 – 29. Those commuting on County Road 43 during these dates can expect flag persons on-site directing traffic. Local businesses will remain open and are expected to not be overly affected by the project.

According to the Public Overview provided by the municipality, “The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville’s Contractor (R.W. Tomlinson Ltd.) and the Municipality of North Grenville will commence the four-lane widening of County Road 43 from 200 metres west of County Road 44 to 220 meters east of Colonnade Drive in Kemptville.”

The overview details that this project involves upgrading the existing 2-lane rural roadway to a 4-lane urban roadway with curbs and storm sewers. The two existing roundabouts on the road will be modified in addition to the construction of 4 new roundabouts. The project overview reads, “The work also includes the removal and replacement of the existing 2-lane bridge on County Road 43 over the Kemptville Creek with a new 4-lane bridge extending to the south.”
