Firearms charges laid in Lombardy after shotgun reportedly pointed at person

A North Grenville resident is facing numerous charges following a firearms-related incident in Lombardy in the early hours of Friday, May 24.

In a media release, OPP explain that on Friday, at about 1 a.m., members of the OPP responded to a residence off of Mahon Road where it was reported that a man had pointed a shotgun at another person.

Police say the victim was able to escape unharmed, however the caller reported hearing a single gunshot.

One person was arrested at the scene, police report.

Derek Bradshaw, age 54, of North Grenville, has been charged with:

  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Careless Use of Firearm
  • Robbery Using Firearm

Charges have not been proven in court.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville today (Friday, May 24).

The Leeds County OPP Crime Unit continues to investigate this incident, with assistance from the OPP Forensic Identification Services.

A police presence will remain for several hours to allow for a complete and thorough investigation. Please avoid the area.
