Leeds and Thousand Islands appoints drainage superintendent

Council of the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands officially and unanimously appointed Aaron Hatton as the new new drainage superintendent during Monday’s council meeting in Lansdowne.
The township has several municipal drains throughout the municipality that require regular inspection. The drainage superintendent is also responsible for completing inspections for tile drain loan applications and overseeing the engineers for the completion of engineering reports.
From 2017 until recently, James Tuck served as drainage superintendent. His recent retirement created a vacancy.
Hatton is the township’s current manager of roads and fleet, and he has completed the required training and certification to be appointed as drainage superintendent.
“Right now, we’re going through the process of updating all of our municipal drainage reports, so it’s actually a good time for a fresh set of eyes to come in,” said David Holliday, the township’s director of operations and infrastructure.
“The role of the drainage superintendent at this time is – we’ll be hosting public meetings, taking that information, and the reports will be coming to council, and from there, any required work will be up to Aaron to oversee that.”
The first set of reports is expected in September.
“And carry through the fall, into the spring,” said Holliday.
