Gananoque food bank to be at upcoming music events

Representatives from the Gananoque and Area Food Bank have been present at this year’s Waterfront Concert Series in Joel Stone Heritage Park, over the weekends, in an effort to bridge a critical gap.
The food bank has a table set up on location to pick up monetary and food donations, which representatives say is key in the summer, when food donations are typically low.
Shannon Griggs, with the Gananoque and Area Food Bank, said the food bank is most in need of condiments, canned vegetables and canned fruit, fruit juice, pasta, pasta sauce and personal hygiene items.
Food bank representatives will be at every Waterfront Concert Series event, every Friday and Saturday, to close out the summer – over four weeks of more music and much-needed items.
And with Le FestivILES just around the corner, beginning this week at Joel Stone Park and running for two weekends until Aug. 4, food bank representatives will be present again, as non-perishable items will be collected during this bilingual festival.
