Special weather statement issued for Lanark, Leeds and Grenville area

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement on Wednesday, Aug. 7 warning of heavy rain in the coming days for the Lanark, Leeds and Grenville area.
Rainfall amounts may exceed 50 mm, beginning Thursday night and continuing through Friday.
“A low pressure system interacting with the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby is expected to give heavy rainfall for eastern Ontario Thursday night through Friday,” the statement says.
Forecasted rainfall amounts could change and rainfall warnings may be issued as confidence in the track of the system increases. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
