Last week’s All Hands on Deck Food Drive, an annual event held in Gananoque, was a record-breaking success for the Gananoque and Area Food Bank.

In total, $1,111 was collected, organizers announced.

The event was hosted by Canadian Tire and the 99.9 myFM Gananoque radio station, joining forces to raise awareness, monetary donations and non-perishable food items for the local food bank, with many other local businesses also contributing to the cause.

Staffers were located outside the No Frills and Canadian Tire locations on King Street for the Aug. 15 event.

Canadian Tire started the day rolling with a donation of over $2,000 worth of food and paper products.

Along with the monetary donations, there were two overflowing truckloads, as well as another full vehicle, packed with food and personal hygiene products.

“We are so very proud to host this annual event each August and to have the support of so many amazing community-minded businesses as sponsors,” a statement by myFM reads.

“Without them, none of this would be possible. Without you, the generous people of Gananoque, this would not be possible.”

The help didn’t stop there for the food bank, as Gananoque Chevrolet announced another fundraiser – to celebrate 48 years in business this month, the Gananoque Chevrolet dealership will be donating $5 for every multi-point vehicle health check to the food bank.
