Large police presence in Prescott leads to one taken into custody

One person was taken into custody following a large police presence at a Prescott residence on Sunday, Aug. 18.

Police urged people to avoid the area of Park Street East just after 1 p.m. on Sunday. A social media post said that there was no threat to public safety, but the emergency response team was investigating. A short time later, a second post explained that one suspect was in custody.

“The post was created as it was drawing public attention with the number of officers and specialty unit members in attendance,” Grenville OPP’s Dave Holmes told Brockvilleist on Monday.

“The investigation is of a sensitive nature, and I can’t release any more information so as not to identify a victim,” Holmes stated.
