Former Woolworths building in Brockville vandalized

Police in Brockville arrested a suspect for vandalizing the former Woolworths building over the weekend.

The Brockville Police Service says that on Aug. 18, at about 7:30 p.m., officers received a 911 call regarding a male who had smashed a window to the 46 King Street West building with a 2×4 piece of lumber.

Officers responded quickly and located the suspect, a 34-year-old male, who had just exited the building.

“It is believed he wasn’t aware that the building was vacant,” police say.

The male was placed under arrest and found to be on two separate probation orders. He was held in custody for a bail hearing for the offence of break and enter and two counts of failing to comply with probation.
