While seniors make up a significant portion of our population, they are sadly often overlooked and underappreciated. If you’re looking for a way to show some love for the seniors in Leeds and Grenville communities, Senior Support Services (CPHC) are still accepting donations and welcoming teams to participate in their first-ever Grande Parade.

The Grande Parade is a Canada-wide walk that raises money to support local charities that provide essential care and service for seniors throughout Canada. This year, CPHC is hosting their walk on Sept. 21 in Athens.

CPHC’s Sarah Hodgson explained to Brockvilleist that the walk will take place around the track at Centennial Park, adjacent to Centre 76 Arena. Registration for the event begins at 10 a.m. and there will be volunteers on-site to direct participants from parking to the check-in area.

Hodgson stated, “While we can accept walk-ins, we do encourage all participants to register their team ahead of time online. This will allow you to keep track of your donations and accept donations via online credit cards right through the website to make it convenient for your friends and family.”

While there is no fee to participate in this event, every adult who raises $150+ and every youth who raises $75+ will receive a Grand Parade t-shirt on the day of the event to recognize their efforts.

Hodgson confirmed that CPHC’s goal for this year’s Grande Parade is $20,000, but they will make good use of every dollar raised.

“The money raised will go directly back into helping the seniors throughout Leeds and Grenville access the services they need to remain living in their homes for as long as possible.”

Hodson is welcoming everyone to get together with their friends, families, or co-workers to contribute to this fun and helpful initiative.

“Seniors have spent so much time giving to us that it’s our time to give back to them by participating in a walk and celebrating our seniors with every step.”

If you would like to donate to CPHC, there are three options available to you:
