Brockville ‘Community Treasure Hunt’ takes place this Saturday

We all know the popular saying “one person’s trash is another treasure.” The City of Brockville’s Community Treasure Hunt this weekend will give you a chance to see all the unique treasures the city has to offer.
Residents of Brockville are invited to go through their household items and leave any unwanted items that are still in working condition at their curb by 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14. The Treasure Hunt will run between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., at which point any uncollected items should be removed from the curb.
Jean-Paul Briggs, solid waste officer with the City of Brockville, told Brockvilleist that the Community Treasure Day has been taking place since at least 2010.
“Our records don’t go back further than that and the staff employed at the time no longer work here. From my experience, it has always been a success with a high turnout.”
Briggs shared that it’s impactful when people take advantage of opportunities like these to share their household items with others because it diverts still useful but unwanted items from going straight to the landfill.
The City of Brockville would like to remind those participating to not trespass on anyone’s property and to only take items explicitly left out on the curb.
