Julie Caffin announced as new president and CEO of Brockville General Hospital
The Brockville General Hospital has announced a new president and chief executive officer.
James Eastwood, chair of the organization’s Board of Directors, announced in a Sept. 30 media release that Julie Caffin has accepted the position.
Caffin is no stranger to Brockville General. After joining the hospital in 2017, she currently serves as senior vice president, chief nursing and health professionals executive and chief operating officer. Prior to that, she held various leadership positions in both medium-sized community and teaching hospitals.
She started her career in healthcare as a front-line registered nurse. Caffin holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and a Master of Health Sciences. She is an active member of the College of Nurses of Ontario and has an Adjunct Academic appointment in the Queen’s University School of Nursing. Julie currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Governors at St. Lawrence College.
Caffin thanked the board for their confidence in her, and said she looks forward to working with staff, physicians and volunteers at the hospital, as well as the community it serves.
Her aim is “to provide stability and continue the successes we have achieved over the past seven years.
“Brockville General is a great place to work, and I am excited to be able to continue building on our mission and vision.” Caffin continued. “I feel privileged to be the leader of Brockville General and will continue to support the community’s growing need for quality, accessible healthcare.”
Eastwood noted that Caffin’s clinical knowledge as a registered nurse and her leadership skills make her the ideal person to maintain strength and stability in the CEO position.
“We are pleased to have Julie lead our exceptionally strong leadership team forward, and to continue the strong success that Brockville General has achieved over the years. The Board is proud to have Julie join the select group of female clinical hospital leaders in Ontario health care.”
The hospital says that Nick Vlacholias, current President and CEO, will work with Caffin to develop a transition plan. She will officially start the new role on Oct. 18.
