‘Adopt me’: Rescue dog meet-and-greet to be held at Nakoma Rescue in Addison

Looking for some four-legged fun or maybe even the perfect long-term companion? Invite some friends for a ‘pawsome’ day at Nakoma Rescue’s Fall Fetch: Meet & Greet later this month. Whether you’re ready to adopt or just want to spend time with some precious pups, this event is the perfect way to enjoy a tail-wagging good time.

The event is hosted by Nakoma Rescue and will be held at the Tikaani-Atka Boarding Kennel for Dogs on Sunday, Oct. 20, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at 7554 County Rd 28 in Addison.

Attendees can meet the available rescue dogs and discover their potential new furry best friend.

Nakoma Rescue founder Angel Cleroux told Brockvilleist she always knew her life’s purpose was to help animals. She originally started Tikaani-Atka Boarding Kennel to stay close to dogs, with the dream of one day founding a rescue.

That dream became a reality with Nakoma Rescue, and she continues every day to provide a safe haven for dogs to offer them a temporary home until they find their forever families.

“The rescue focuses solely on providing shelter, medical care, and love for dogs awaiting adoption,” Cleroux explains. “While Tikaani-Atka provides boarding and daycare, Nakoma Rescue is dedicated to rescuing dogs until they find their permanent homes.”

Cleroux created these meet-and-greet events to provide potential adopters with an opportunity to meet and interact with the dogs in their care.

“These events also serve as a platform to educate the public about the urgent need for rescue and adoption,” she explained. “Many of our dogs have come from situations of neglect, abuse, abandonment, or high-kill shelters. Others have been surrendered by families due to financial hardship or changes in their living conditions.”

Nakoma Rescue hopes these events will raise awareness of the many dogs in need and highlight the unique personalities and level of care provided for each dog.
