Info meeting to be held for Gananoque physician recruitment

At the last Gananoque council meeting, Mayor John Beddows discussed his motion to hold a planning, information and public input session to discuss the town’s physician incentive planning.
The session will be held at the Lou Jeffries, Gananoque and TLTI Recreation Centre on Oct. 29.
“I know that access to medical services is a concern for many in the community given the number of residents who aren’t rostered with a clinic or who may lose access to services in the near future,” said the mayor.
Beddows amended the motion, seconded by Coun. Colin Brown, to include discussion of registered nurse practitioners and access to hospital services. The motion passed unanimously at council.
Beddows has now announced chief administrative officer Melanie Kirkby will facilitate the session on Oct. 29.
“I hope to hear from you not only about concerns, but to also get a general sense of how residents of Gananoque see the town going forward with our existing physician incentive and recruitment program, whether or not to amend it and how to address the cost of any amendments.
“I am looking forward to the session and discussion on this issue, access to medical services, which I know matters to every resident of Gananoque,” said Beddows.
