Planned disruptions at Gananoque marina, town hall

Town officials have announced a planned service disruption at the Gananoque Municipal Marina.

It is scheduled to begin on Thursday and last until May 1.

This disruption will coincide with extensive dock replacement work, which requires all boats to vacate the marina, including those in slips that do not need main dock access.

As part of this process, the marina’s small boat launch will close for the season at 3 p.m. on Thursday. However, the Lion’s Launch will remain open for boater use throughout the disruption period.

“The town appreciates the community’s understanding and patience during this necessary upgrade to the marina facilities,” a statement from the town reads.

The public is being encouraged to plan accordingly and utilize alternative launch sites as needed.

Town Hall basement

A second planned service disruption has been announced by the Town of Gananoque.

Starting Monday, lasting until Nov. 1, the disruption includes the Town Hall basement.

Environmental workers will be completing mould remedial work in the old part of the basement.

“Contaminated material will be bagged and disposed of into a dumpster at the rear of the building, taking items out through the new part of the basement and up the stairs,” a statement from the town reads.

“Some larger items may need to be disposed of using the elevator.”

Once all items are disposed of, work will start on some drywall removal and cleaning.

“All precautions will be taken to ensure public and staff safety,” the town’s statement continues.

This service disruption will require the rear entrance and exit to be closed intermittently.

The public is being reminded to obey any traffic lines created by the contractor for entering and exiting the building.

“On behalf of the Town of Gananoque, we thank you for your cooperation and patience in this matter as we have this needed repair work completed as soon as possible,” a statement from the town ends.
