Two arrested in break and enter at Brockville Esso station

An early morning attempted robbery of a gas station led to two people facing multiple charges over the weekend, Brockville police report.
Police say that on Sunday, Oct. 27, at about 4:30 a.m., officers received a call regarding a person breaking into the Esso gas station on Stewart Boulevard.
They arrived on scene and one suspect, an 18-year-old female, attempted to flee in a vehicle, police say in a media release.
“As she drove away, she became blocked by bushes and then pinned in by the police vehicle to prevent further escape,” the release continues.
Police had been told that a second person was also inside the store; as a result, officers entered and located a 22-year-old male inside. “It was evident that this was a break and enter in progress,” police say.
Both subjects were arrested.
A search of the male determined that he was also in possession of property from the store and tools to assist in gaining entry. It is to be noted that the male was also on two separate probation orders. He was arrested and charged with break and enter, possession of break in instruments, possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of fail to comply with probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
The female suspect was charged with break and enter, flight from police and possession of property obtained by crime. She was released on conditions with a future court date.
