Travelling education centre to visit Leeds and Grenville this month to teach youth about the Holocaust

Students in the Leeds and Grenville area will learn about the Holocaust this month thanks to a travelling education initiative.
Tour for Humanity will make its way through the region Nov. 4-15. The mobile education centre from Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center (FSWC) will be travelling throughout Eastern Ontario, visiting schools in Gananoque, Elgin, Brockville, Kemptville, Cornwall, Chesterville, Vankleek Hill, Russell and Clarence-Rockland to deliver Holocaust and human rights education to Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) students.
The Tour for Humanity is a 30-seat, wheelchair-accessible, state-of-the-art, technologically advanced mobile human rights education centre that teaches students, educators, community leaders and front-line professionals about the Holocaust, genocide and Canada’s human rights history through workshops. This is the fourth year the Tour for Humanity will be visiting UCDSB schools.
The purpose of the custom-designed vehicle and the educational sessions conducted on it is to help inspire and empower people of all ages and backgrounds to raise their voices and take action against hate, intolerance and bullying and to promote justice, human rights and a more inclusive society.
Since its launch in 2013, the Tour for Humanity has visited more than 1,200 schools across Ontario and other provinces – including Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and British Columbia – reaching more than 200,000 students, educators and community members.
Tour for Humanity senior educator Elena Kingsbury and educator Simon Busse will deliver workshops to students.
