Brockville police charge man with assault, forcible confinement, mischief against mother

An altercation between a woman and her adult son led to assault with weapon, forcible confinement and other charges last week in Brockville.
The Brockville Police Service say that on Tuesday, Nov. 5, they received a call regarding an assault that had taken place at a residence on Ann Street.
Officers were told that a woman confronted her 28-year-old, son over an issue that took place in the residence that caused damage the previous day. The argument escalated, which led to “the male [causing] more damage in the residence, [grabbing] his mother and not letting her leave,” police say. He allegedly also attempted to take property and while his mother was calling 911, threw a glass bottle at her.
“Luckily, the bottle missed and she was not seriously injured,” police say.
The suspect fled the residence prior to police arrival, but at about 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, he was arrested by Brockville police.
He was held for a bail hearing for the offences of assault, assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000 and forcible confinement.
