Military training to take place in Brockville Dec. 4

The City of Brockville has shared a public service announcement in partnership with the National Defence and Canadian Armed Forces.
Residents may notice some extra activity in Brockville from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, as students and instructors from the Peace Support Training Centre in Kingston will be conducting an exercise.
Approximately 40 Canadian and international students and instructors will undergo ‘area assessments’ of local communities. The purpose of these assessments is to train in the conduct of Civil-Military Cooperation, a function that fosters “coordination and cooperation between the military forces and civil authorities.”
According to the announcement, “An area assessment is a survey that gains knowledge about the community, its infrastructure, and its capabilities. For training realism, the students will be surveying [towns like Brockville].”
In terms of what to expect, Master Warrant Officer Pinaroc explains, “Students will go out into the area, take pictures, talk with local residents, and try to understand the dynamics of the Township. Subsequently, the students will brief their findings and recommendations to the course Directing Staff at Peace Support Training Centre. This training will have minimal impact on the community.”
