It’s time for holiday fun in Gananoque.

This weekend in the waterfront community, it’s the opening of Candy Cane Lane, the official Town Hall tree lighting, and the Santa Claus Parade.

On Friday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., people can join in on holiday shopping in the downtown as merchants will be open late with lots of special offers, free tote bags, complimentary drinks and light bites, fun surprises throughout the evening, and $1,000 worth of prizes to give away.

Ballots will be available at Laverne’s and participating storefronts.

Also on Friday, the official Town Hall tree lighting and opening of Candy Cane Lane will occur in Town Hall Park at 6 p.m. The Community Choir, featuring students from Linklater Public School, will help kick off the event, along with the town’s Poet Laureate and Crier.

On Saturday, Santa Claus comes to town.

In partnership with the 1000 Islands Gananoque Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Gananoque, the Town of Gananoque presents the 2024 Santa Claus Parade at 5:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Seeley’s Bay Area Residents’ Association will be hosting their tree lighting on Friday.

This will occur at 7 p.m. at the corner of Bay Street and Stanton Street, which is across from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 491.
