Here’s how Brockville kids can get their letters to Santa amid postal strike

Many children around Ontario are feeling concerned this December, unsure whether their letters to Santa Claus will reach the north pole in time for Christmas considering the ongoing Canadian Union Postal Workers (CUPW) strike.

Local mail carrier and union member Carla Lavigne wants to remind families in the community that although the strike is ongoing, members on the picket line are still accepting letters to Santa outside the Brockville Post Office on Buell Street from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lavigne confirmed that the CUPW will be collecting letters on-site until Dec. 16, or until the strike is over, whichever comes first.

The CUPW have also partnered with a few rural businesses on the outskirts of Brockville that will also collect letters to help keep the holiday spirit in full swing. These businesses include Riopelle’s Convenience in North Augusta, Chit Chat Convenience and Pizzeria in Lyn, Jerry’s Service Center in Jasper, Kitley Grocery and Service Center in Toledo and Your Family Dollar in Prescott.

Lavigne told Brockvilleist, “CUPW members don’t want to see the magic of Christmas spoiled for anyone, especially children. Nothing should stop Santa from receiving letters and writing back to each one.”

The CUPW wants to remind anyone writing to Santa to include their name and return address so he can write back.
