Gananoque to consider new storage structure

Gananoque council will hear about two proposed Class III development permits, during Tuesday’s council meeting at 5 p.m.
One is for a property at 665 Charles Street North – the town’s public works department, the other at 350 Stone Street South.
The application for 665 Charles Street North is for a new storage structure for use by the public works department.
The storage structure would be located on the east side of the property, be 6.9 metres high in the dimensions of 12m x 18m and will be set back 38 metres from the southern interior lot line.
The structure is proposed to be a covered storage structure that will be similar to the existing Quonset structure in proximity to this proposed structure and is intended to be used for storage purposes.
If passed by council, it is anticipated that the new structure will be constructed this fall.
The subject property is used for the public works department for the purposes of a municipal works yard including the office and garage, water tower, equipment and a salt shed reached from Charles Street North.
The owners of the property at 350 Stone Street South have applied for a development permit to operate a short-term accommodation at their primary dwelling.
The current bylaw requires a Class III permit to ensure that parking is provided on site for the proposed use in a residential area. Additionally, the bylaw requires that a short-term accommodation is owner-occupied.
Pending approval of this application, the owners will be required to obtain an annual licence under the Short-Term Accommodation Bylaw and meet the requirements under the Municipal Accommodation Tax Bylaw.
