At about 9:45 p.m. on the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 3, police received a call regarding a dispute between neighbours on Windsor Drive. Officers were made aware that one resident was upset about neighbours across the street harassing him by shinning lights in his windows.

“The male had been drinking and was upset to the point that he threatened to confront them and would smash their windows with a sledgehammer,” police say in a media release.

Once officers arrived, the suspect, described as a 64-year-old male, began heading toward his shed to retrieve his sledgehammer. Officers intervened and attempted to calm him down without success. The man was put under arrest, taken to the Brockville Police Service, and charged with uttering threats. He was later released once sober with conditions and a future court date.

The following day, there were further issues involving the same suspect. Police say he was consuming alcohol again and became upset. There were concerns that he was agitated and going to attend the neighbour’s residence to engage in a confrontation. Police were notified and officers attended. The man was taken into custody to prevent the offence from occurring and protect the victim. He was held for a bail hearing due to safety concerns of the other neighbours.
