Gananoque to build new storage facility for public works

Gananoque’s public works department’s application for a storage facility on the property at 665 Charles Street North was unanimously passed by council last Tuesday.
The storage facility will be located on the east side of the property.
The proposed structure will be 6.9 metres high in the dimensions of 12 metres by 18 metres and will be set back 38 metres from the southern interior lot line.
The structure is proposed to be a covered storage facility that will be similar to the existing nearby Quonset structure, and is intended to be used for storage purposes.
The subject property is used by the public works department for the purposes of a municipal works yard including the office and garage, water tower, equipment and a salt shed accessible from Charles Street North.
The brush/yard waste depot is located to the north-east, which is accessible from James A. Brennan Road. There is an existing trail, Rogers Trail, to the northeast of this location where the fire training facility was previously approved.
Stockinghill Creek is located at the southwest corner of the property.
The building will be located to the north-east of the existing Quonset structure and accessible from an existing internal laneway. The structure will be constructed of an eight-inch concrete block wall system with a tarp enclosure, similar to the existing Quonset structure.
