Dickson, Kent officially take over at Gananoque Fire Department

It is official, Andrew Dickson will be the new fire chief for Gananoque, while Andrew Kent will be the new deputy chief.
At last Tuesday’s Gananoque council meeting, council unanimously passed a bylaw to appoint the two to their respective roles.
It’s customary to pass a bylaw to appoint a new fire chief.
As well, a separate bylaw was amended to remove a reference to outgoing Fire Chief Gord Howard and add the new fire chief and deputy fire chief. That was unanimously passed by council, too.
All of this was a formality but needed to be officially completed by council.
Mayor John Beddows thanked Howard for his services and welcomed Dickson and Kent to their new roles.
Dickson joined the fire department in July 2009 as a volunteer firefighter.
He became a full-time firefighter in September 2015 and was promoted to deputy chief in June 2021.
Kent joined the fire department in April 2019 as a volunteer firefighter and was promoted to community safety officer in April 2022.
