$35,000 donated to Kemptville District Hospital’s CT scanner campaign in one week

The Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) Foundation was buzzing with excitement last week when its CT Scanner campaign received significant support from two local business owners, who donated a total of $35,000.

Last week, Lee Mosley, investment advisor at Mosley Associates, and his wife, Sharon presented a $10,000 gift towards the campaign.

Mosley shared, “It is our hospital. The more things we can do here (in our community) the better.”

The same week, the hospital was presented a cheque once again, this time by Rick and Janice Johnson, owners of the Canadian Tire in Kemptville. Their donation was an immense $25,000. Receiving the generous donations on behalf of the KDH Foundation was Margret Norenberg, KDH Foundation Board Chair.

“We deeply appreciate how the local business community has leaned in so generously to bring a CT Scanner to Kemptville District Hospital,” Norenberg said.

Both couples are relatively new residents in Kemptville, but remain committed to seeing their town become the best it can be for everyone. According to the KDH Foundation, “Both couples understand that a CT Scanner is a vital diagnostic tool and something they or their families or friends might require someday, perhaps urgently.”

Executive Director Joanne Mavis told Brockvilleist, “Having a CT Scanner at KDH will be a game changer for the community.  Patients will not have to be transported to other hospitals for a scan resulting in many hours of waiting for patients and families.” She emphasized, “Without a CT Scanner KDH can not maintain an emergency department- it’s an absolute necessity.”

While the KDH Foundation still needs $200,000 more to purchase the scanner, these donations have moved them a lot closer to meeting their goal! Mavis explained, “The postal strike prevented us from sending out our annual appeal to the community, but we are so close and every donation matters!”

For those who would like to donate to this cause, you can do so online at kdhfoundation.ca, call in a donation at 613 258 6133 ext. 185 or utilize the KDH Foundation volunteers who have been driving to pick donations up in person.
