Those who frequent the YMCA in Brockville for their recreation and fitness needs may notice a large group of athletic young men dressed in red shirts over the next week.

As previously reported by Brockvilleist, the City of Brockville is currently hosting Team Switzerland for the week leading up to the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.

While they’re in town, the team will be using the YMCA facilities for their workouts to stay in tip top shape for their upcoming championship games.

“The YMCA of Eastern Ontario is thrilled to be able to host team Switzerland at the Y during their stay,” shared CEO Rob Adams. “As an organization, the Y places a lot of importance on partnerships and giving to our communities, both locally and internationally.”

Adams continued, “Team Switzerland accessing the Brockville YMCA during their weeklong stay will reinforce the high quality of facility and services that are available at the YMCA; and these facilities and services are available to all regardless of personal circumstance.”

The IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship will be held in Ottawa from Dec. 26, 2024 to Jan. 5, 2025.
