Man ejected from Brockville’s The Bar facing weapons charges after handgun observed

RCMP officers on patrol in Brockville over the weekend witnessed an interesting scene at The Bar, which led to multiple charges.
At about 2 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, officers from the Kingston RCMP Border Integrity Detachment were on patrol in the Brockville, monitoring the area of The Bar on King Street West. While there, they observed a man being removed from the establishment due to an altercation that took place inside.
Brockville police say the RCMP officers were ready to assist in de-escalating the altercation, when they observed the man pull a handgun from his waistband, which he then held at his side. Once the subject noticed the officers, he attempted to move around the corner to discard the firearm on the corner of King Street West and John Street.
“The RCMP officers quickly arrested the male and held the crime scene for further investigation,” the release says.
Officers from the Brockville Police Service then took over the investigation, charging the 31-year-old suspect possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, carrying concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
