Lansdowne infrastructure projects await funding

Leeds and the Thousand Islands council has unanimously endorsed a conditional plan to address significant infrastructure needs in the Village of Lansdowne.

This occurred during Monday’s council meeting.

The projects include upgrades to the municipal water storage and distribution system, estimated at $4.5 million, and the broader Lansdowne Urbanization Project, estimated at $14.9 million.

The water system upgrades aim to improve water storage and pressure for firefighting, while the urbanization project targets repairs to roads, sidewalks, stormwater infrastructure, and the sanitary system.

Both initiatives are critical to supporting the village’s current and future growth as outlined in the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands’ Official Plan.

However, the township’s ability to proceed hinges on securing external funding.

Council has tied its support for the projects, included in the 2025 municipal budget, to successful grant applications from federal, provincial, or other sources.

Staff will report back to council with updates on grant applications and present further options based on the availability of funding.
