Star Wars, Mufasa, skating and more: Seven things to do in Brockville on the Jan. 31 PA day

This Friday, Jan. 31, students in the Leeds and Grenville area have a PA Day—a perfect opportunity for families to spend quality time together while exploring all that Brockville has to offer. As the first month of 2025 draws to a close, the City of Brockville has suggested a variety of fun activities for children of all ages to make the most of their day off.
Indoor Fun for Families
Brockville Arts Centre: In the next instalment of the ‘BAC to the Movies’ experience, relive the magic of Disney with a screening of Mufasa: The Lion King. There are two showtimes on Friday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., with affordable tickets at $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Brockville Museum: The local museum will be open from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31 for a hands-on experience at the Touch Table Activity Stations to add hands-on learning to the museum’s exhibit spaces. Admission is by donation, making it an accessible and educational outing for younger children.
Brockville Public Library: Calling all young Jedi! Star Wars fans who are eager to immerse themselves in the epic fantasy world may enjoy the library’s Star Wars Party from 10 to 11 a.m. This drop-in event is tailored for kids aged five to 12.
The Aquatarium: The Aquatarium is open Fridays to Mondays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering interactive exhibits and activities for families to learn about marine species and the St. Lawrence ecosystem and history.
Outdoor Winter Activities
Ice Skating: For those who love to partake in the most classic of winter activities, Brockville offers multiple indoor and outdoor ice-skating opportunities, weather permitting. Rotary Rink at 148 George street is open throughout the day with specific hours for public skating 9 a.m. to noon and 4 to 6 p.m., and hockey games from noon to 4 p.m., and 6 to 10 p.m.
Residents can also skate any time (except during morning maintenance) on the picturesque outdoor rinks of Tunnel Bay and Blockhouse Island. Please note that hockey is not allowed on this rink.
Sledding: Laurier Hill off Laurier Boulevard offers one of the most fantastic sledding hills in the area. Depending on the weather, this is a totally free and undoubtedly thrilling activity for the whole family.
Walking: There is nothing more enjoyable during a calm sunny winter day than a nice outdoor walk and thankfully, Brockville has a few of those! For those looking for a more rustic experience, the Mac Johnson Wildlife Area offers a diverse range of scenic trails. The historic Brock Trail provides an easy and accessible walk throughout the entire city.
