A 20-year-old woman is facing impaired driving charges after attempting to evade a traffic stop in Brockville in the early hours of Saturday, April 19.

At approximately 2 a.m., an officer on general patrol attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation near Broad Street and King Street West. Police say the driver appeared to try to avoid the stop by quickly turning down side streets before pulling into a driveway on Bartholomew Street. Neither the female driver nor her male passenger had any connection to the property, according to police.

Officers believed the woman had been drinking and demanded a roadside breath sample, which resulted in a fail. She was transported to the Brockville Police Service headquarters for further testing, which confirmed she was impaired.

The woman’s G2 licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded. She was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg. She was released with a future court date.
