Military exercise to close Long Sault Parkway April 25 to 27

The Long Sault Parkway will be closed to the public from April 25 to 27 as the Canadian Armed Forces conduct Exercise TRILLIUM VENTURE, a large-scale training operation spanning across multiple locations in Ontario.
According to the St. Lawrence Parks Commission, the scenic Parkway and adjacent Parks of the St. Lawrence campgrounds and day-use areas will host military personnel and equipment over the weekend.
Although these park areas are not yet open for the 2025 season, public access will be fully restricted during the operation.
Exercise TRILLIUM VENTURE will be led by Joint Task Force Central and will involve approximately 1,500 members of the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Air Force, and Royal Canadian Navy.
According to a release from the St. Lawrence Parks Commission, the exercise simulates a wide-scale military response to a large-scale air disaster, with coordination from provincial, municipal, and federal partners.

The exercise will coincide with the St. Lawrence Marathon, which takes place Saturday, April 26, utilizing the full length of the Parkway. However, it has been confirmed that the military training has been carefully scheduled to avoid disrupting the race.
During the three-day exercise, residents and visitors may notice increased military activity, including helicopters, vehicles, and boats in the area.
The Long Sault Parkway is expected to reopen to the public on Monday, April 28, 2025.
