The date for the fifth annual Gord Brown Memorial Golf Tournament has been set.

On Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025, golfers will gather at Smuggler’s Glen Golf Course in Lansdowne for a special day of sport, community spirit, and giving back. The tournament celebrates the late MP’s enduring legacy of compassion and service, with proceeds supporting programs through the YMCA of Eastern Ontario and United Way Leeds & Grenville (UWLG) focused on strengthening local communities and unlocking potential in kids, families, and individuals.

Executive Director of UWLG Hallie Jack said it’s an honour for the organizers to continue Brown’s legacy in this way.

“Gord’s unwavering commitment to bringing hope to Leeds and Grenville continues to inspire us all,” she stated in a media release, adding that “this event, a highly anticipated gathering, is a testament to Gord’s vision and the power of collective action.”

Jack explained that participants can expect a memorable day of golf, delicious food, VIPs, and a shared commitment to honouring Gord’s legacy.

Rob Adams, CEO of the YMCA of Eastern Ontario, shared some examples of how the tournament has helped the organization serve its communities.

“Our sponsors and participants may not always see it, but their support inspires action and creates meaningful change — not just for today, but for the future we’re building together” Adams noted. “In the past year alone, community support has helped us serve over 30,000 meals — for many, it was their first meal of the day.”

In addition, the YMCA’s teen drop-in programs welcomed more than 6,700 visits; the organization provided over 2,000 days of supportive housing; and the new Student Impact Program achieved an impressive 90 per cent attendance rate, with one in four members receiving financial assistance.

“This is what happens when a community comes together — we create real, lasting change in people’s lives,” Adams said. “We’re especially grateful to the Brown family for allowing us to honour Gord’s legacy by continuing to create opportunities for those who need it most.”

Golfers of all levels can support a worthwhile cause and enjoy a beautiful course – all while have the opportunity to golf with a famous sports personality or two.

This year’s tournament fees are $900 per foursome, or $225 per person. Tournament fees include golf, a cart, special tastings/experiences at various holes, golf with some VIPs, a chance to win fantastic prizes throughout the course, dinner and a live and silent auction. The tournament has a 12 p.m. shotgun start.
