Kingston Police assist Gananoque Police with arrest of suspect five weeks after fleeing scene of intentional collision with cruiser

A Frankville, Ont., resident who “deliberately rammed” into a cruiser while fleeing Gananoque Police in mid-April was arrested in Kingston last week, according to authorities.
In a press release on Monday, May 26, 2025, the Gananoque Police Service expressed gratitude to the Kingston Police, who assisted in locating the accused person, who was subsequently arrested and is now facing more than a baker’s dozen of charges.
According to Gananoque Police, their officers observed a vehicle being operated by the accused person on Wednesday, Apr. 16, 2025. Knowing that the individual was prohibited from driving, officers located the driver and the vehicle shortly after the initial observation, Gananoque Police said.
Officers attempted to make initial contact, but upon being approached, the suspect attempted to flee.
“A physical altercation ensued, during which the suspect resisted police control and upon entering their vehicle, deliberately rammed a police vehicle to evade arrest,” Gananoque Police detailed.
“In the interest of public safety, officers did not engage in pursuit as the suspect fled the scene.”
An investigation commenced and, “in collaboration with a neighbouring police service,” the suspect was located on Friday, May 22, 2025, according to Gananoque Police.
In response to Kingstonist inquiries, Gananoque Police said that the suspect was located in Kingston, and that Kingston Police were the assisting service.
Kingston Police initiated contact with the suspect on May 22 “at an establishment” in Kingston, but police did not say where specifically. According to Gananoque Police, the accused individual was taken into custody “without further incident.”
As a result, the 33-year-old from Frankville (which is located about 55 kilometres northeast of Gananoque) was charged with:
- Two counts of assault with a weapon
- Assault with intent to resist arrest
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- Two counts of failure to comply with a probation order
- Failure to stop after an accident
- Flight from a peace officer
- Mischief over $5,000
- Five counts of operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited under the Criminal Code
Gananoque Police said that the accused was held in custody for a show cause bail hearing, though the date of that hearing was not disclosed. Police did not release the name of the accused person.
“The Gananoque Police Service would like to thank our partner agency for their assistance in safely locating and apprehending the suspect,” the nearby police force stated.
