Brockville to mark Canada’s 158th birthday with music, parade and fireworks

The City of Brockville is inviting residents and visitors to celebrate Canada Day on Tuesday, July 1 with a full day of festivities marking the country’s 158th birthday.
Events kick off at 11:45 a.m. with a classic Brockville tradition: a march from City Hall to Hardy Park led by the Brockville Pipe & Drum Corps, local heroes, and dignitaries.
At noon, AJ Benoit will perform the national anthem, followed by remarks from Mayor Matt Wren and free cupcakes for all attendees.
Live entertainment begins at 12:30 p.m. with music from “AJ and The Royal Canadians” and additional local acts to be announced. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.
The evening wraps up with fireworks over the St. Lawrence River at Blockhouse Island beginning at 9:30 p.m.
Mayor Wren is also encouraging residents to show their Canadian pride this summer by flying the flag. Lawn signs featuring the maple leaf flag—celebrating its 60th anniversary—are available for $10 at the Brockville Farmers Market or online through Rotary Brockville at www.rotarybrockville.ca. Proceeds support local charitable efforts by the Rotary Clubs.
