Two arrested in separate assault investigations in Brockville

Brockville police made two arrests on June 2 in connection with separate incidents of assault.
Police say in a June 5 media release that the first incident took place around 9:30 a.m. at a residence on Convay Crescent, where officers responded to a report of an argument between a couple. Police determined that the male victim had been assaulted by his 33-year-old girlfriend inside the home. According to the investigation, the victim was struck in the face with a shoe, bitten on the hand, and had his phone damaged after the woman bit it. Further investigation revealed ongoing harassing communications and that the accused was on probation at the time of the incident.
The woman was arrested and held for a bail hearing. She faces multiple charges including assault, assault with a weapon, mischief under $5,000, harassing communications, causing a disturbance, and three counts of failing to comply with probation.
Later that same day, just after noon, police responded to an altercation at a multi-unit residential building on Pearl Street West. A woman had arrived at the location to visit a friend when she was confronted by a 60-year-old male resident from another unit. Police say a verbal argument escalated, and the man allegedly grabbed the woman’s arm, struck her in the back of the head, and threatened to harm her.
The suspect was arrested and later released with conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court to face charges of assault and uttering threats.
