Kemptville District Hospital creates new award to celebrate physicians

Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) has created an annual award to celebrate the work of physicians who have made outstanding contributions to KDH.
The first recipient of the Physician Excellence Award is Dr. Johnny Brisebois, one of KDH’s longest-serving physicians.
Brisebois was nominated for the award by his peers after being a cornerstone of the hospital’s emergency department for many years, details a KDH press release issued on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
The award recognizes physicians who have gone beyond clinical care, encompassing leadership, mentorship, institutional engagement, and prolonged commitment to KDH.
“KDH created the Physician Excellence Award to recognize our doctors who demonstrate the dedication, compassion, and clinical diligence that define high-quality patient care,” said Dr. Colin Sentongo, KDH Chief of Staff.
“Dr. Brisebois is an exceptional physician, who has been a staple of KDH’s ED for many years. We appreciate his commitment and professionalism, and hope this award shows our gratitude for everything he does.”
“Dr. Brisebois is an outstanding physician, and wonderful ambassador for KDH. He exemplifies the qualities of an excellent physician, including providing compassionate and high-quality care to his patients in the Emergency Department,” said Frank Vassallo, KDH President and CEO.
“Dr. Brisebois is a very deserving recipient of this award; he personifies KDH’s values of compassion, respect, and accountability, and I’d like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to him.”
