Leeds—Grenville—Thousand Islands—Rideau Lakes Member of Parliament Michael Barrett delivered a tribute in the House of Commons on Monday, May 25 honouring the memory of Wanda, Mackayla and Nikita Elliott following the May 7 tragedy in Brockville.

“On behalf of our community, I ask all parliamentarians to join me in honouring the memory of Wanda, Mackayla, and Nikita Elliott, whose lives were taken in a horrific act of intimate partner violence in Brockville on May 7, 2026,” said the MP.

Barrett described Wanda as “a beloved mother, wife, and sister,” and Mackayla and Nikita as “sisters, daughters, and friends who are deeply loved and missed by all those who knew them.”

He also acknowledged surviving family members, including Wanda’s husband of 27 years, Andy Elliott, her brother Richard, and Andy and Wanda’s daughters, Harley and Katherine.

Barrett thanked the Brockville Police Service and first responders “who responded with care and professionalism in the face of what can only be described as unimaginable tragedy for the family and for our community.”

He also recognized the work of Leeds and Grenville Interval House and Shelter Movers for supporting victims and survivors of intimate partner violence.

“Together, our community honours Wanda, Mackayla, Nikita, and I ask everyone to join us in honouring them, as we stand in solidarity with all victims of intimate partner violence,” Barrett said.

The tribute comes after the Brockville community was shaken by the violent deaths of the 49-year-old mother and her two daughters, ages 17 and 15. A 17-year-old Brockville male was arrested later in the day on May 7 and charged with three counts of first-degree murder and assaulting a police officer.

Investigators described the case as one of the largest homicide investigations the service has faced in recent memory, while community leaders and organizations, including Leeds and Grenville Interval House, have called attention to the broader impacts of gender-based and intimate partner violence.
