A Brockville woman is facing charges after reports of a disturbance in the downtown area, local police say.

In a Friday, July 3 media release, police explain that officers were called to the area of King Street at about 11 a.m. on July 2 after receiving multiple reports of a woman yelling and screaming.

According to police, one caller reported the woman was on the patio at Finnegan’s Pub waving a broom in a manner that caused concern. At one point, she allegedly began striking objects with it.

Officers spoke with witnesses after arriving at the scene, but were told the woman had left before police arrived.

Police searched the downtown core and later located the woman in Hardy Park, where she was arrested without incident.

A 54-year-old woman has been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and causing a disturbance.

She was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police did not name the suspect.
