The Thousand Islands Association is inviting residents, cottagers and boating enthusiasts to gather for its annual breakfast social and annual general meeting at the Thousand Islands Playhouse.

The event will take place Saturday, beginning with a full hot breakfast and social at 8:30 a.m., followed by the association’s annual general meeting at 10 a.m.

This year’s featured guest speaker will be Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands fire prevention officer Doug Richardson, who will present When the Road Ends… Emergency Response in the 1000 Islands.

Richardson will discuss how emergency responders operate in the unique geography of the Thousand Islands and offer practical advice on how residents and visitors can prepare for emergencies on the water and in island communities.

The morning will also include remarks from local dignitaries, live music by Tim Hallman, door prizes, a 50/50 draw and displays from organizations including Parks Canada, the Rideau Area Response and Enforcement team, the Thousand Islands Watershed Land Trust, the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands Fire Boat and the Get the Lead Out program.

The Thousand Islands Association describes the annual breakfast and meeting as one of its signature community events, bringing together residents, cottagers and local organizations to discuss issues affecting the region while celebrating life in the Thousand Islands.

Pre-registration is required for the breakfast. More information and registration details are available through the Thousand Islands Association.
