Traffic signal upgrades to begin at Parkdale Avenue and Windsor Drive intersection next week

Drivers and pedestrians travelling through one of Brockville’s busy intersections should prepare for temporary delays beginning next week as the city launches a project aimed at modernizing traffic signals and improving pedestrian accessibility.

In a release issued on Thursday, July, 9, 2026, the City of Brockville announced construction will begin Monday, July 13 at the intersection of Parkdale Avenue and Windsor Drive.

The project, which is expected to take approximately two to three weeks to complete. will be carried out in stages by ACF Electric and L.A. Knapp Construction to help minimize disruptions to traffic.

The project is part of Brockville’s ongoing asset management program, which replaces traffic signal controller cabinets on a regular schedule to ensure the city’s traffic lights continue operating safely.

According to city officials, crews will replace the intersection’s traffic signal controller cabinet and underground signal infrastructure while also installing new sidewalks, tactile warning plates to meet Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) standards, and four new pedestrian push buttons.

The underground infrastructure will also be upgraded to current standards, allowing the intersection to support future traffic detection technology while improving pedestrian accessibility and helping traffic move more efficiently, the release added.

Motorists can expect temporary lane restrictions and short delays throughout construction as crews complete the work in phases, which is expected to be completed by late July, weather permitting.

The city is encouraging residents and commuters to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and monitor municipal updates for information on traffic impacts and any road closures related to the project.
