Ontario invests nearly $1.5M in hospital, health-care upgrades across Leeds and Grenville

Hospitals and community health-care providers across Leeds and Grenville will receive nearly $1.5 million in provincial funding this year for critical infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving patient care and modernizing aging facilities, to help local hospitals and health organizations complete essential repairs and improvements.
On Thursday, July 15, 2026, Steve Clark, Member of Parliament (MPP) for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, announced the provincial funding of $1,491,526 provided through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF) and the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund (CIRF).
Provincewide, Ontario is investing more than $266 million this year through HIRF to support 126 hospitals, while nearly $15 million through CIRF will assist 67 community health service providers. The government says the investments are part of a larger plan to invest approximately $64 billion in health infrastructure over the next decade, including more than 50 major hospital projects across Ontario.
“Our government understands that supporting our local hospitals and healthcare facilities means investing in the infrastructure that’s vital for frontline workers to deliver world-class care to patients,” Clark said in the release. “I want to thank Minister Jones for continuing to strengthen our local system so patients and their families can access care close to home.”
The province says the work will help address urgent infrastructure needs while creating safer, more comfortable environments for patients, visitors and staff, specifically roof replacements, flooring upgrades, elevator modernization, HVAC improvements, fire alarm systems, security upgrades and emergency generators, according to the release.
Brockville General Hospital (BGH) will receive an amount of $705,32 and Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) will be alloted $552,421 in funding.
“This funding enables Brockville General to complete essential repairs and upgrades that enhance our facilities and support the delivery of high-quality care,” shared Julie Caffin, president and CEO of BGH. “By replacing aging roofing and flooring and modernizing visitor elevators, we are maintaining safe, accessible and welcoming spaces for patients, visitors and everyone working in our buildings.”
At KDH, the funding will gowards replacing six aging rooftop HVAC units at the KDH Health Centre. “By addressing aging equipment and supporting ongoing code compliance, this funding strengthens our ability to deliver high-quality care and services today and into the future,” said Frank Vassallo, president and CEO of KDH.
Additional funding through the CIRF will also support the following three local community health organizations in Leeds and Grenville:
- Rideau Community Health Services – $153,410
- Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health – $48,276
- Country Roads Community Health Centre – $32,092
